Jim Butz, Technical Services Manager

Jim is the Technical Services Manager at Novinda but also serves as VP of operations of ADA Technologies. He acted as General Manager of Amended Silicates, LLC from 2005 - 2008. A 20-year veteran of ADA Technologies, Jim has directed ADA Technologies’ mercury program since 1998. He holds a BS (Mechanical Engineering).

Jim has been instrumental in the development and commercialization of Amended Silicates sorbent, serving as Principal Investigator on four of the multiple projects addressing the technical advancement and field trials of this novel non-carbon based sorbent. He has prepared test plans, reports, papers, and made presentations to national meetings on ADA’s extensive suite of mercury clean-up technologies, including Amended Silicates sorbent.

In 2005/6, Jim led the team that secured a U.S. Department of Energy funding contribution for the full-scale trial of Amended Silicates at Duke Energy’s Miami Fort station. Jim directed the Miami Fort trial in 2006 and continues to plan and direct field trials of Amended Silicates sorbent.
