The effectiveness of Novinda’s products has been recognized both by plant operators and industry leaders. Novinda has received several industry awards for its effective mercury removal products.

Novinda was named in the 2014 Global Cleantech 100’s Ones to Watch list. The list is produced by Cleantec Group and highlights a group of upcoming companies that are catching the eye of leading players in the market. In 2014, Novinda received the R&D 100 Award. Amended Silicates™ HgX ranked among the 100 most technologically significant products introduced in the past year. Since 1963, the R&D 100 Awards have identified revolutionary technologies newly introduced to the market. These Awards recognize excellence across a wide range of industries, including telecommunications, optics, high-energy physics, materials science, chemistry and biotechnology. Winners of the R&D 100 Awards are selected by an independent judging panel and the editors of R&D Magazine.

In 2014, Novinda received a prestigious Gold Edison Award™ in the Material Science category for its innovative flagship product - Amended Silicates HgX (AS-HgX).

In 2013, the Environmental Business Journal named Novinda’s Amended Silicates HgX (AS-HgX) as the Air Quality Technology award winner. The Journal recognized Novinda for

“...its development of Amended Silicates HgX, a non-carbon reagent that removes mercury from coal-fired power plant emissions, enabling utilities to comply with the EPA’s strict Mercury and Air Toxic Standards (MATS). This mineral-based product removes mercury via a chemical reaction, providing economic and environmental advantages unavailable with competing products. Amended Silicates was the first non-carbon reagent for mercury emission control in coal-fired generating units. As a non-carbon product, AS-HgX leaves fly ash pristine for reuse in manufacturing concrete, eliminating landfill burial of millions of tons of fly ash annually and providing an important revenue stream. Extensive laboratory testing and full-scale tests at 50 power plants helped refine the product and understand its many benefits, including consistent compliance with MATS; a 90% smaller carbon footprint during manufacturing than carbon-based products; conversion of the mercury to mercuric sulfide, which doesn’t leach into the environment; mercury removal with two to three times the efficiency of competing products; and 25 to 70% operating cost savings and reduced operating expenses compared with carbon-based products.”

In 2012, Novinda’s Amended Silicates was named the 2012 Product of the Year by Environmental Protection Magazine, in the Air Quality and Climate category. The magazine recognized that “Amended Silicates is the first commercially available, non-carbon reagent for removing mercury (greater than 90%) from the flue gas stream of coal-fired power plants. Amended Silicates uses a natural mineral compound as its base component, which reduces emissions and energy during the manufacturing process. A significantly reduced carbon footprint is realized versus the manufacture of more traditional mercury capture products, such as powder activated carbon.”
